On the occasion of the 50 th anniversary of the ADAC (Côte d’Or association of friends of the carillon), we are pleased to organize our first contest for carillon composition and arrangement. Anyone can enter these contests, whether you are a carillonneur or not. An entrant can submit a composition, arrangement or both as desired.

COMPOSITION CONTEST

The entrant is invited to write a piece not exceeding 5 minutes in duration (ideally between 2 and 4 minutes). Each entrant must use the compulsory theme and may also use the suggested themes provided.

The form and style of the piece are free. The piece will be written for a 4-octaves chromatic carillon (without low C#), with a pedal board (one octave and a half, from C to G, connected to the manual keyboard).

Submissions are open until June 10th, 2024.

The score should be sent in PDF format via email to carillons.adac21@gmail.com, along with a short description (in English or French) about the composition. The PDF document should not mention the entrant’s name to ensure that anonymity is preserved during the jury’s assessment. The jury will assess the quality of the pieces by how well they incorporate the compulsory theme and how suitable it is in relation to the sound of the bells.
